Lean production refers to the tools and techniques used to improve a company’s cycle time. Lean production focuses on eliminating waste. In this context, waste is anything not providing value to the customer—but we’ll go into more detail later in this post. For now, understand that as an inexpensive and efficient system, MODAPTS® is a tool for implementing lean production standards.
A Brief History of Lean Manufacturing
Taiichi Ohno, a Japanese industrial engineer, better known as the father of the Toyota Production System, noticed that the more inventory a company had, the less likely they had what they needed. Using some of the lean manufacturing we know today, but were revolutionary at the time, Ohno devised a list of seven wastes as part of his system. This list is used throughout the manufacturing world today to improve working standards, cycle times, and ultimately increase the profitability of a company by eliminating waste.
